Church Update #2 - 11/20

The design phase of the project is complete.
Over the past few months, we have generated a full set of structural plans that outline the scope of the structural elements in need of repair or replacement, as well as provide details on how these repairs should be made.

These plans are a “permit set” meaning that they are somewhat preliminary in nature, and have been issued for permitting and cost estimating purposes. A critical component of these plans is the design of a structural steel frame structure that will support the new fiberglass steeple. There is no set date for the erection of the new steeple, but hopes are to install the new roof system over the sanctuary portion of the church mid-December. Other components, such as new exterior wall sheathing, have already been installed.

The other aspect of the reconstruction project is the creation of a large assembly hall addition on the rear of the building, and the re-design of the interior first floor of the structure. Saltonstall Architects has generated a proposed floor plan to this end, on which the congregation has reached a consensus. Saltonstall Architects have also provided a full set of architectural plans including exterior wall elevations, building sections, and floor plans for each level.
